Southwest Baptist Uses Singles Play To Defeat Metro State, 5-3

BOLIVAR, MO. -- Southwest Baptist University won four singles matches to overcome a 2-1 doubles deficit and defeat Metro State, 5-3, in the second round of the NCAA men's tennis tournament, Saturday afternoon in Bolivar, Mo. Metro State won at No. 1 and 3 doubles to take a 2-1 lead going into singles play but the Bearcats rallied to win at No. 2, 3, 4 and 5 singles. Sascha Ruckelshausen won at No. 1 singles, 6-0, 6-3, for the Roadrunners' only singles win. For the second day in a row, weather interrupted play but it did not bother SBU as after the delay Agustin Mollar defeated Riley Meyer at No. 4 singles, 6-4, 7-6 (5) to clinch the team win. Metro State's season ends with a record of 17-7 overall. The Bearcats advance to the third round in Houston, Texas.
