Ruckelshausen Named RMAC Academic Player of the Year

COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. - Metro State's Sascha Ruckelshausen was named the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference men's tennis Academic Player of the Year, the conference announced Wednesday. Ruckelshausen, who has a 3.64 grade point average in management, was also one of six student-athletes named to the men's first team. Joining Ruckelshausen was Ricardo Oaxaca and James MacIndoe of CSU-Pueblo, Jordan Chomko of Mesa State, Camilo Andres Espinosa of Nebraska-Kearney and Western New Mexico's Rafael Catay. Ruckelshausen is Metro State's No. 1 singles player and he teams with Riley Meyer at No. 1 doubles. He was named second team all-RMAC in singles and first team all-RMAC this season in doubles. On the women's side, Mitra Hirad and April Hirad were both named to the second team. Mitra Hirad played No. 1 singles for the Roadrunners, while April Hirad played No. 2 this past season. To be eligible for Academic all-RMAC honors, individuals must carry at least a 3.20 grade point average, be either a starter or key reserve on his or her respective teams and must have completed two consecutive semesters or three consecutive quarters at their RMAC institution. The RMAC sports information directors vote on the all-Academic teams.
