Sept. 20, 2008

Box Score

The No. 14 Metro State women's soccer team (5-1-2, 2-0-1 RMAC) played stingy defense in a 1-0 victory over UCCS, Friday afternoon in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) action in Colorado Springs, Colo.

The teams entered the game as two of the best defensive teams in the RMAC and the contest lived up to that. The game lived up to those numbers. Metro State managed only 14 shots, eight of which were on goal. UCCS had seven shots, six on goal.

MSCD got its big opportunity in the 51st minute when the 'Runners were awarded a free kick from 23 yards out. Senior midfielder Jaimie Stephenson drilled the ball into the top corner, her second score of the season.

Becca Maloney (5-0-2) made six saves to record her fourth shutout of the season.

The 'Runners travel to crosstown rival Regis, Sunday at 1 p.m.
