Nov. 20, 2007
LEXINGTON, KY. - Metro State seniors Julie Green-McFarland and Bri Ostler were named to the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) all-Southwest Region team, the organization announced Tuesday. In addition, freshman Kelsey Ellis received the region's Freshman of the Year award, as well as honorable mention all-region. Tony Graystone of West Texas A&M was honored as the Southwest Region coach of the year. Green-McFarland led the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference in kills per game and leaves Metro State as the program's all-time career leader in kills (1654) and attack attempts (4565). An all-region and honorable mention all-America last season, Green-McFarland is a three-time all-RMAC selection. Ostler led the RMAC in digs per game and leaves Metro State with 1230 digs, which ranks sixth all-time. She was a second team all-RMAC pick in 2007. Ellis ranked second on the team in both kills (386) and digs (477) and was a second team all-RMAC pick, as well as the conference's Co-Freshman of the Year.
